A Murderers Guilt

A Murderer's Guilt is an original short film Directed and edited by me. It details the story of a Murderer that has now begun to feel regret and and shame for what he's done, begging for forgiveness as he looks back on this heinous act.

As Director of this project I thought it important to emphasise the emotive nature of the story, something that is then detailed by the shot choices, using close ups for example to show our character's emotions and then with the sound, using the echoing voice over as if the audience is hearing his inner thoughts. As well as this, the choice to set the film in a forest was specific as it felt like a neutral area, isolated with no one else around.

Being the Video Editor as well meant I was able to further these choices by looking at pacing, slowing down moments towards the beginning and then speeding them up as the character becomes more panicked and guilty as the narrative progresses. It was also an opportunity to work closely with the composer and sound editor, with this film being heavily audio based these choices were vital to the tone that was being created, something that had to match visually too.
