Today at UEA
2022 - 2023
Today at UEA is a Live morning entertainment show made by students for students. It was the first regular, live internet show broadcast at the University of East Anglia and remains an integral part of the institutions mediascape, now being run by the official UEA TV society.
I was the Creator, Writer and Director of the show through its first year of broadcast and was also in charge of bringing together the cast and crew that brought the show to life. Doing various casting calls and test shows to check chemistry and on-screen ability I believe that the presenters chosen are the best choice and ended up being an integral part of the identity of the show.
Today at UEA was broadcast live bi-weekly to YouTube for 5 shows it's first year, all of which have garnered hundreds of views on the platform. The studio floor was Directed by me which gave me valuable experience in the live television environment, with it being set to a strict on air time for the 30 minute time schedule. This meant that improvisation and in the moment problem solving was vital, particularly in the moments when segments would overrun and it was up to me to manoeuvre the rest of the timings in the show.
On top of this, the time spent within the studio meant I became proficient in technical problem solving, having hands on experience with the equipment and needing to step up to find a fix when something wasn't working.
